Inspiration
Our love for food — especially Korean food — inspired us to create BestBite. We wanted a way to share the joy of eating with everyone, because in Korean culture, eating together is not just about food — it's about community, connection, and celebration.
What it does
BestBite lets users share photos of their food adventures, rank restaurants, plan food dates with friends, and share their availability. Users can explore other people's food experiences, discover new Korean restaurants, view dynamic rankings, and even see who matches them best in taste profiles. The app also tracks your top spots and shows how many restaurants you’ve visited each month.
How we built it
We started by prototyping in Figma with both low-fidelity and high-fidelity designs. From there, we used HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript to create interactive elements and bring parts of the experience to life.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was the coding side — especially working with HTML and CSS under a tight deadline. Balancing design and development within limited time was tough but rewarding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Originally, we planned to stick with only a Figma prototype, but a few hours in, we decided to push further and incorporate real code. Taking that extra step made us really proud of how much more complete the project became.
What we learned
We learned that knowing Figma, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is incredibly important and that even when it gets stressful, it’s worth pushing through to bring your idea to life!
What's next for BestBite
Next, we want to add more advanced features like real-time friend notifications, restaurant suggestions based on your taste profile, and a full launch-ready version of the app. We hope to make BestBite a must-have guide for Korean food lovers in Seattle — and maybe even expand beyond!
