Hackathon Experience

Inspiration

Going into this hackathon, none of us had a clear vision of what we wanted to build. However, as time went on, we began working together more effectively, inspiring one another along the way. We didn’t want to let each other down, and that motivation pushed us forward. This collective drive became the foundation of our success, as each team member played a crucial role in bringing our project to life. Our team shared a mutual interest in sports betting, so tailoring our project to something we were all interested in served as an additional source of inspiration and entertainment.

Challenges

Implementing APIs to create betting lines and working with a coding platform and language unfamiliar to most of us tested our adaptability. Despite our initial inexperience, we remained persistent, immersing ourselves in CSS, React, and JSX. The challenge of implementing the right code within a tight 24-hour window—often sacrificing sleep—only fueled our determination. But that’s all part of the hackathon experience.

Lessons Learned

Through this experience, we learned the value of teamwork, communication, and collaboration. Collaboration and communication are essential skills we use daily. While they may seem straightforward, mastering them requires understanding and executing various key components to ensure success.

Overcoming Obstacles

While we faced several challenges in developing our website and were required to practice the basic essential skills, we leveraged each team member’s strengths to overcome obstacles. Many of these challenges required us to approach problems from different perspectives, but we were able to solve them together.
