Inspiration

As regular gym goers, we always find ourselves coordinating our trips to BFit with each other based on what muscles and goals we were targeting that day. We thought that an app to quickly plan trips to the gym and share activity with friends would be really fun and helpful. We were also inspired by the idea of making going to the gym a less intimidating activity that helps build people's confidence. That's why we added features to log your mental state and goals, and kept social media elements constrained so that people are less inclined to compare themselves against others or see themselves in a negative light.

What it does

BFit Together allows users to log in and record their planned gym activities, gym goals, and mood for the day. It also allows users to see friends' activity and contact them through the web app to plan trips to the gym.

How we built it

We built BFit Together using React, React Router, Material UI, Firebase Realtime Database, and Figma.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge Kaylyn and Brian ran into was CSS styling with Material UI components. Brian also had challenges authenticating users using log-in data stored in Firebase. Jeffrey struggled at first to create his first Figma Workflow, but after learning how to use the tool he became more comfortable with it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of making a project like this under 12 hours despite not having a lot of hackathon experience. We are also super happy about the fact that we learned how to use new technologies.

What we learned

We all became a lot more familiar with CSS, Figma, and Firebase after this. We also learned how to coordinate with version control and make designs.
