Inspiration
We were thinking of a project and noticed that Qualcomm was giving away a prize for using its IOT device. Considering none of us had built something related to IOT, we decided to give it a shot. We chose to do curtains because it seemed like something all of us could use.
What it does
Our hack communicates with the Dragonboard which in turn communicates with a motor to raise and lower the blinds. You can set an alarm to do this, in which case the blinds will rise over a 10 minute period or immediately. You can also use a control from the app itself with arrows and a percentage to denote how much the blinds have been opened so far.
How I built it
We built it using the Dragonboard, Flask, Javascript, and React-Native.
Challenges I ran into
Incorporating the Dragonboard was the hardest part by far. There were many hitches that we ran into since it was new technology as well as general challenges of using hardware.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
What I learned
We learned about how to create cool IOT projects and we have other ideas for them now.
