Inspiration

Block broker provides freelancers and businesses with a way to connect and complete transactions without any third party fees or overhead (except for gas)

The inspiration behind Block Broker stems from a vision to revolutionize the freelance industry by leveraging blockchain technology. We aim to create a decentralized platform that empowers freelancers, connects clients with top talent, and eliminates the need for intermediaries.

What it does

Block Broker serves as a decentralized marketplace for freelancers and clients, facilitating secure and transparent transactions through smart contracts. It provides a trustless environment, ensuring fair compensation for freelancers and quality work for clients. The platform aims to redefine the future of work by embracing the principles of decentralization, transparency, and efficiency.

How we built it

We built the project Using React on the Frontend and Hedera with Solidity for Smart Contracts on the development on a chosen blockchain platform. After deciding on the idea, we worked together as a team to decide on the specifications, then split into frontend and backend teams.

The platform incorporates features such as job posting, connecting clients with freelancers, and handing transactions seamlessly. The user interface was carefully designed to enhance user experience, making it intuitive for both freelancers and clients.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge of the build was that only one team member in 5 had any Hedera experience, which meant a lot of learning for everyone and more developers dedicated to the backend.

On the frontend side the main challenges were with learning how to use React and Github more collaboratively and creating end-points that could be used by the back-end team.

On the back end developing a decentralized platform came with its unique set of challenges. Ensuring the security of smart contracts, designing a user-friendly interface, and integrating blockchain technology seamlessly were among the challenges we faced. Overcoming these hurdles required a combination of technical expertise and creative problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully building the first stages of a decentralized freelancer market that aligns with our vision. Creating a platform that empowers freelancers, connects clients with the right talent, and operates without intermediaries is a difficult challenge and we've laid the groundwork. The successful integration of blockchain technology and the creation of a robust, secure, and user-friendly environment are milestones we celebrate.

What we learned

Through the development of Block Broker, we gained valuable insights into the intricacies of decentralized applications, smart contract development, and the importance of user-centric design. We deepened our understanding of blockchain technology and its potential to reshape traditional industries.

What's next for Block Broker

Block Broker's roadmap includes continuous improvement, expansion of features, and future community engagement. We plan to design a robust system for handling disputes, and add sorting functionalities to the contracts dashboard as well as adding other quality of life improvements, community engagement pieces and tying up loose ends we were not able to wrap up during the hackathon.
