Inspiration

This was our very first hackathon, our love for blockchain and cryptocurrency led us to join BlockHack 2023. It wasn't until we were deep into brainstorming during the hackathon that we stumbled upon the freelance market's potential. The challenges freelancers faced resonated with us, and we felt an urge to make a difference. We've pinpointed two pressing issues in the freelance industry that remain unaddressed by any platform.

What it does

Introducing Blocklance freelance platform, leveraging the power of blockchain technology to create an immutable, transparent, and trust-driven ecosystem. We didn’t just adopt any blockchain, we built our own. Specifically designed to address common challenges faced by freelancers and clients alike:

Assurance of Work Completion: We guarantee that work is completed as per the agreed terms before any exchange of assets.
Guaranteed Payment: Freelancers no longer need to worry about non-payment issues. Once work is verified, payment is irrevocably processed.
Work Authenticity: The platform ensures that delivered work aligns with the initial descriptions and requirements.

To fortify trust and efficiency, our platform incorporates a custom AI. This AI analyzes all orders, automating the approval process by ascertaining the completion and authenticity of tasks. Only once the AI confirms that the work aligns with the order's requirements does it facilitate the release of payment to the freelancer and delivery of work to the client.

How we built it

BlockLance's foundation is a product of thorough research and understanding of the freelance industry's nuances. We began with a clear vision, and here's how we brought it to life:

Blockchain Subnet: Instead of starting from scratch, we chose to harness the power of the AVAX blockchain. We constructed a dedicated subnet, ensuring the robustness and security of AVAX while tailoring it to the specific needs of the freelance world.

AI Integration: Recognizing the need for efficient task verification, we decided to leverage ChatGPT. This powerful AI tool, known for its conversational prowess, was integrated to serve as an automated verifier, ensuring tasks align with client requirements and maintaining the platform's integrity.

Custom-Built Website: The user experience was paramount. With that in mind, we crafted a website from the ground up. Every design choice, every feature was deliberated upon, ensuring that both freelancers and clients have a seamless, intuitive experience. Our meticulous coding and design approach ensured that users, regardless of their tech-savviness, can navigate and transact with ease.

Challenges we ran into

Remember the bit about us building our blockchain? Yep, that was a massive learning curve! From grasping the AVAX subnet technology to syncing with the Avalanche blockchain, we faced quite a few tech hurdles. And of course, piecing together a web3 website brought its own set of challenges. Completing the project before the deadline was very difficult. But hey, nothing a strong cup of coffee couldn’t fix!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Navigating uncharted waters, we successfully pieced together BlockLance, a platform with the potential to revolutionize the freelance landscape. From being beginners in some areas to launching this platform, the journey has been nothing short of exhilarating.

What we learned

Tech aside, this journey taught us the value of persistence, the essence of collaboration, and the magic that happens when like-minded individuals come together.

What's next for BlockHack 2023

We're keen on refining BlockLance, based on feedback and real-world usage. The learnings from this hackathon have sparked a fire in us. So, keep an eye out – we're geared up for more hackathons and are excited about forging new connections in the community. After all, we're not just showcasing a platform; we're setting the stage for the future of freelancing.
