Inspiration
I like reading. Reading clears our thoughts and takes us to another world. I used to suggest my favorite books to my friends. But on further inspection, I realized that even though most of them like to read, they are not able to choose the book, to begin with. So I decided to do something to help them decide on the book. Finally, I thought of an app.
What it does
Our app Bookastle provides the basic plot of the story. Readers can browse through the books and identify which one suits them the most. They can post and read the comments of other users which makes selection a lot easier. It also tracks user interested genres and suggests them the right book.
How we built it
We made the prototype of the app using Figma and Adobe XD.
Challenges we ran into
We planned to make it using Flutter but we had limited knowledge of Dart language. We also had to learn about Figma and Adobe XD which was completely a new platform for us. Designing was also a great challenge for us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
First of all, this was our very first hackathon and we are really proud to be a part of it. We were able to propose an idea that is helpful for people. As part of the hackathon, we also learned about a lot of things that improved our knowledge.
What we learned
We learned about the prototype designing in Figma and Adobe XD and how to create database and user authentication. We also learned about flutter and firebase and now, we know the procedures to build an app.
What's next for Bookastle
We intend to make the app using flutter and we also want to add more features like E-books and a global community for authors and readers to collaborate with each other. This would help the authors to know the likes of the readers.
