BoomTown

Inspiration

Our inspiration was the millions of Americans with internet insecurities and the difficulties they have with finding work and upward social mobility. We are also aware of the difficulties of being a small business owner (especially a sole proprietor) with minimal support.

What it does

BoomTown uses an SMS based platform to connect business owners with the temporary staff they need. The platform gives an equal opportunity to individuals without a reliable internet connection.

How we built it

A flask web server with the Clicksend api for SMS requests.

Challenges we ran into

Having a working demo in 24 hours.

What we learned

Integrating a text-based api with flask.

What's next for BoomTown

Integrate more features such improving the user experience for both business owners and potential employees. Integrating with point of sales systems such as Clover so that staffing can be managed seamlessly.
