Bored
About
Have you ever been bored? We definitely have. So to make life better for everyone, we went ahead and developed Bored.
WhyBored
For this hackathon, we decided to develop Bored: an iPhone application that leverages the Facebook API, the FourSquare API, and the power of a MongoDB database to connect users with others who are bored and simply searching for something to do. When the user opens the application, they are asked to approve location services for the application and log into Facebook in order for us to find entertaining things to explore nearby and friends to explore those places with. From here, the application allows users to select possible destinations that they are interested in as well as explore where their friends are interested in going. With Bored, we want to leverage technology to help connect people and eliminate something we all hate: boredom. In the future, we hope to integrate a Facebook user’s likes and past check ins to recommend new places to visit and work to develop a system that automatically connects a user with someone else who may be going to an event that they are planning to attend.
Who we're thankful for
Facebook for it's API, FourSquare for it's API, and the recruiter from Andressen Horowitz who gave us a free $10 Digital Ocean code.
