Inspiration
Due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus, everyone is bound to stay at home. Staying home has many advantages as well as disadvantages. Children are mainly affected by the time they spend on electronic devices. It has adverse effects on their health. ‘Boredverse’ presents everyone with a platform where they can spend their time on electronic devices wisely. Instead of spending time just on online lectures, meetings, or studying, students and adults can engage in a community where they can find various movie and book ideas, creative essays, poems, or articles, and take quizzes on various topics. Our main motive is to make a website and an app to use these devices or screen time wisely by engaging in a creative environment where you can learn many different things you didn't know before.
What it does
The user has to login/signup. Boredverse presents the users with an interactive platform where they can read and post movie and book recommendations, reviews, and also find movies of different genres. Watching movies and reading books can be a great way to curb boredom and relieve stress. Additionally, users can also read and post blogs- poems, articles, essays on diverse topics. To expand the user's knowledge in various fields, they can also attempt quizzes of different subjects.
How I built it
We composed the code on glitch and GitHub using the languages CSS and HTML. The app mockups were made using Canva and Figma. The pitch video was made using Canva and iMovie.
Challenges I ran into
We faced many errors while coding the website. Also, it was a team member's first time using Figma, so she took a lot of time to design the mockups.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We learned how to code an amazing project and we also got familiar with new platforms for coding and designing within the time period of this hackathon.
What's next for Boredverse
We plan on making the movies and books available on the app and the website and also include the login feature on the website.
