We were inspired greatly by other reminder apps and how they could be improved for neurodivergent needs. Our team consists of neurodivergent people who sought to make a functional reminders app tailored specifically to neurodivergent needs. We aim to boost productivity, as well as address particularly niche problems like when we forget to do basic things like eating or drinking water. We knew that an app like this can be easily forgotten, so we incorporated a reward system to encourage users to log in Completed tasks are rewarded with XP, which you can cash in on the app to get dopamine boosts such as a coffee break. Our project was built mainly using vibe coding in Gemini, a tool we previously did not know existed. However, it took many tries to learn how to export such a project successfully and make it into a functioning website. We were also introduced to Windows Powershell and the concept of terminals to access folders on the hard drive to run code. One significant challenge was the many small bugs we faced that may slip by in a normal target audience, but might be triggering for our neurodivergent users. This included too many icons, having sliders instead of hard options for customization, and highly readable fonts for those with dyslexia. With all of this personalization came with its own challenge of preventing the main screen from being too overstimulating. Another challenge we faced was trying to make an original concept, since there are already many productivity apps out there.
