Inspiration 💡

We found ourselves building our schedules around when professors were holding office hours, scouring the internet for people posting questions similar to what we found in practice sets and even resorting to posting for help on Chegg. So, we decided to create a solution to a lack of resources online by optimizing every single student's capabilities. Learning by teaching and collaborating is one of the most effective ways to immerse yourself in the content and we wanted to incorporate this into our software. Productivity and motivation has been at an all-time low for a lot of students, and this is meant to target and actively combat this issue.

What it does

The login page takes you to your school's organization page to securely allow for students to access the webpage. Once logged in, you'll be able to choose your faculty and view the available rooms by course code. Once you join a room, you'll be able to collaborate with other students who are also working on the same course simultaneously. You'll be able to share ideas and help each other work through whatever problems you are going through. There is also a Pomodoro timer for silent study in order to remain on track with the personalized goals you set for yourself.

We built the website on VSCode using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into 🧩

A lot of issues came from the integration of each individual feature we implimented on the site. We also had troubles with the interactive chat box.

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆

We're proud of being able to create something for students everywhere that could potentially save them from the stress and feeling of being alone. Many students are struggling, often silently, and we want to prevent stress levels from rising excessively during exam periods.

What's next for BrainScape 🚀 🧠

We want to further develop this project into a full-stack platform for university students. We also want to embed a more secure login page where the student has to authenticate their identity through the school's login portal. Finally, we want to implement more cybersecurity measures in terms of safely securing passwords and preventing identity fraud.
