Inspiration

There are a large amount of puppy mills in the United States. Consumers may avoid buying from a breeder if they are aware that the breeder abuses their animals. We aim to educate buyers and help them identify abusive breeders to steer them towards a more humane buying option.

What it does

At its core, the system allows users to search for breeders. It is also rating and surveying system that attempts to collect data about breeders that indicates whether or not they treat their animals humanely.

How we built it

From the ground up with MongoDB, Node.js server, & Angular frontend. No pre-existing project nucleus!

Challenges we ran into

Quickly building enough functionality into the application while using unfamiliar frameworks.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Quick search for breeders in the user's area. Generated reports of every breeder in the system that rates their puppy mill risk on a scale of 1 to 10.

What we learned

MEAN stack development

What's next for BreederBook
