Inspiration

Seeing as one of our group members frequents the use of a rather old bridge, he wanted to implement a way of monitoring the safety and durability of Vashi Bridge.

What it does

Bridge Watcher collects data on a bridge and provides an interface to analyze and be informed of a bridge's status.

How we built it

Aside from love, we built the program using react for front-end and python for device scripts. Then, we used Photoshop and Blender for pitch, and Sony Vegas Pro for design.

Challenges we ran into

A major challenge was the difference in timezones as it made organizing and meeting up difficult. Another challenge was implementing MQTT to connect our front-end table in react to the back-end data gathering scripts in python.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Teamwork; we were able to assign appropriate tasks to everyone's strengths and seeked input and help from each other when needed.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the fundamentals of bridge properties to ensure that meaningful variables are being tracked to monitor bridge quality.

What's next for Bridge Watcher

Unfortunately we were not able to play around with load cells and temperature sensors to gather real-time example data.
