BuddyCalc

Inspiration

Missing multiple lectures in a row makes us wary if we're meeting the minimum attendance for our course or falling short on our participation credit. Scoring low on our Mid-semester exams and making calculations for our goal end semester marks becomes tedious and error prone. We don't realize that we have fallen off track from our goal GPA until it is too late and have significantly impacted our grade.

What it does

Our app takes a users timetable, minimum attendance, courses enrolled, weightage for different activities (exams, projects, assignments) and your target GPA. It keeps you informed about how off/on track you are with your goals.

How we built it

We began with a flow chart to track our app's functionalities, user flow and make connections with our backend/database and the frontend UI screens. After flow- UI on Figma, No Code- Bravo Studio, API Backend- Airtable

Challenges we ran into and what we learned

Did not know anything about app development, we built this app by learning everything from UI/UX on Figma, Understanding the backend and what APIs are, Navigating through Bravo Studio- learning what containers are, tags for different actions, POST and GET requests on APIs, Understanding how to store, process and display real-time data using Airtables.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We gained great knowledge about interactive components like drop down menus and creating a touch sensitive time-table. Team's dedication and motivation despite having roadblocks like paid features in platform, no previous hackathon experience for all team members. We persevered and learned as we implemented..

What's next for BuddyCalc

We are looking to implement BuddyCalc at Plaksha University, futher we can add more features such as an algorithm to calculate the user's projected SGPA, planning workhours and helping students be more productive.
