Inspiration
After seeing the complexities that underlie financial processes in Alpha Kappa Psi, we were motivated to simplify them through BudgetCents
What it does
By unifying admin and member user experience, we aim to eliminate the inefficiencies that come about as a result of manual processes.
How we built it
We used a NextJS Typescript front end with a Flask back end with MongoDB to store and Stripe to pay.
Challenges we ran into
API integrations were difficult due to the nature of network communication. Additionally, front end design and integrating various components proved quite the challenge
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a product that we would use. We believe that BudgetCents can provide real value to people and hope to see it thrive.
What we learned
Aside from the technical knowledge we gained in terms of integrating tools and APIs, we also learned how to persevere. Even when we didn't know how to move forward, we never gave up and always found a way.
What's next for BudgetCents
We envision BudgetCents as a mobile app that users can regularly engage with in order to stay in the loop. Aside from just bookkeeping, we think it could be used to efficiently keep everyone in the loop.
