Inspiration

The isolation in the fast-paced construction industry often gives rise to overlooked mental health challenges. Construction workers often don’t have anyone to turn to, and will choose not to when they have the option to.

What it does

"Build Together" is our response, weaving together recognition with connection. In an endless battle where dedicated professionals tirelessly craft architectural wonders, we ensure their efforts don't go unnoticed. Our interactive map radiates with each worker's accomplishments, not just as a testament to their skill but as a vital affirmation of their value.

But "Build Together" isn't solely about milestones. We recognize the immense benefits of camaraderie and mutual support. Amid irregular hours and shifting job sites, we offer a sanctuary. Engage in genuine conversations, find solace in community updates, or lean on seasoned mentors for advice. With "Build Together," we're creating more than edifices; we're nurturing a compassionate, interconnected community.

How we built it

We built it using SvelteKit, TypeScript, etc to support the front end side. For backend, we used FastApi, Python, MongoDB, etc.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges with myopia in keeping our project simple. We had a plethora of features we wanted to implement, but had to narrow it down to a key few. Accordingly, we definitely struggled integrating the design with the functionalities by trying to ensure the app was still interactive enough.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although our app is a rudimentary implementation, we still appreciate the fact that we were able to come together to create an app that emulates a more humanizing community and direction for construction works.

What we learned

We learned a lot about databases, but most importantly, we learned a lot about what construction workers go through mentally, aside from physical strains.

What's next for Build Together

We have a lot in mind with the aforementioned features; one example is presenting more metadata to the construction worker, like hours worked on a certain project.
