Inspiration
Our team is very passionate about sustainability, and the construction industry significantly contributes to global carbon emissions, but many sites lack tools to measure and maintain their impact on the environment. Many regulations are inconsistent and difficult to directly implement, leaving companies without guidance to reduce their carbon footprint.
What it does
Our tool calculates carbon emissions generated throughout a project’s lifecycle using direct data from the construction site. A user inputs their data from a construction site including the number of materials they use, fuel usage, and energy usage and out tool provides automated sustainability ratings and suggestions to help sites comply with environmental regulations.
What's next for Buildwise
The next step for Buildwise is to extend our project by improving usability and expanding the calculator to account for a wider range of contributing factors. We would like to implement our tool into an industry wide software that construction companies can input their data into. Given that construction companies already track all of this data for budgeting reasons, this software would eliminate an extra step that companies would have to take to improve their carbon rating.
