Inspiration

The new normal. We are currently at a point where we have to adjust and embrace new ways of doing things, and that includes the regular needs of getting groceries.

What it does

We made a scheme to encourage people to consume healthy foods and explore varieties of ingredients. Users are tasked to do certain things, and after they completed it, they are rewarded by a badge. A status / title users can hold on to, that will give them perks on certain promotional occasion. Users also can choose their route of expertise and gain more and more powerful badge with better perks.

How we built it

First we discussed together the find the best idea for the hackathon. After that, the designer create the user interface and flow using Figma. Then, the engineer develop the mobile app using Java & Android Studio.

Challenges we ran into

Not to be perfectionist. A lot of things can be improved, we are very meticulous in our own work.

Nature of a game. It should please the player's senses. Game is a product that flourish when the aesthetics are good. In this 48 hours, it is not easy to make a sense pleasing product. We do not include haptic feedback, sound and animation, and assets can be improve further.

Lack of context and problem. Gamification should be the next step of things. Gamification is something to apply onto a working solution, but because we do not have a context to work on, or an assigned app to brainstorm the gamification on, this took quite some time for us to set on particular problem and products out there that is real enough to solve.

There is no Mobile Apps Developer in the team There is no Mobile Apps Developer in the team, so it's a bit struggle to us when developing the mobile app.

Other than that, the team member composition is unique and push us to spend time learning new tools and skills, that may in some cases takes time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The UI design, I am proud of what I can pull off. Also the Figma prototype is working as expected, as I would envisioned in the final product. For the engineering side, we successfully develop the QR Scanner, which is one of the main feature in our Growcherish. We also have built the prototype APK which can be tried in Android device.

What we learned

For engineering side, we learned Android app development using Android Studio.

What's next for Growcherish

Growcherish still can be improved by optimizing the mobile app and creating a proper backend service. We also can add another new features, in order to help people living a healthy life.
