C-cube

Connect, Communicate, Celebrate that is the goal of this app. My aim is to connect people through what they share in common, or what they don't and help facilitate communication.

Inspiration

In my English 381 class, my classmate and I had differing views in the space between reality and representation, she thought that had lead to a weakening in our communication. I, however, belive that our ability to confuse representation i.e the picture of a cow as the cow itself and reality gives us an added ability to articulate ourselves. That is why for my website/app you will have the ability to decide through which means you can articulate yourself the best, and learn about yourself the best.

What it does

After you log in you will be led to a page that asks you through what media do you want to connect people with, you are given the options, books, songs and paintings. This builds a 3 dimensional form of communication where we focus on one side i.e songs, but still allows you to later discuss with people about the two other areas. After you choose an option, an AI will generate lyrics, and from there you will again be given three options, know when you know the lyric or song, like when you like the song but haven’t heard it before and Meh for when the song is just not it. Following that an algorithm will run to see how many people you share similarities with (might add difference filter option later) in the form of pins around the globe, after you have chosen a pin from the globe, it will zoom in on the location giving you the place and also how many people you share similarities with that live there. This will be listed below and you will see the users profiles, name, and star color rating system. The more green the star is (using RGB) the more similar you guys are and red when you are very different and yellow is the medium. You will then touch the user's profile and you can communicate with them. You will be able to talk to people all around the world because in your text box will be a built-in translator that replies in the language the user uses after you type your reply in English. You will also have an option to send voice text and to take pictures and send it. This can also act as a recommendation platform since the people you are communicating with have similar likes, you can ask them for recommendations.

How we built it

So far, as I am a one person group, I have focused on the UI of the website which I used Figma and some HTML and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

I had to learn how to use figma and was stuck on how to use a prototype. I at first planned on using a Quotes API to generate the quotes, however as a beginner who only knows HTML, CSS, I got stuck and decided to later continue this project, while I learn the skills required. I also attempted to learn MongoDB to store the data but didn't understand it very well. Having only done the sign in page, because I had to learn margining and used ChatGPT to help me solidify my ideas.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am so happy about making a UI from the app as I am a person interested in game development and design and this was a wonderful opportunity to place myself into it. I have finally made a submission to a hackathon can't wait to get my I demoed sticker.

What we learned

I learned how to use Figma skillfully, I also learned a little bit about APIs and MongoDB.

What's next for C-cube

My plan for C-cube is to turn it into a working app. I plan to better understand coding and maybe find teammates to help me build it along the way. I have certain things I have to research first, hot to connect the text box to a translator, user privacy, and thinking about how often people can connect to one another. Find the APIs and databases I want to connect to. Make an algorithm that randomly sends quotes, lyrics and paintings and such. Have a domain name and many more things. I have many more ideas but I don’t want to make the scope even bigger.
