Inspiration

Half of the world’s GDP relies on nature and utilized species have already declined 50%. Businesses value biodiversity but it’s time consuming and expensive to navigate all the data sources to inform better decisions. There's a lot of data missing, but we can already put the data that we have into use.

What it does

cacique has generative AI interact with over 1GB of biodiversity-specific datasets providing companies with the best inputs to meet their biodiversity data needs today

How we built it

We built it using Langchain and BabyAGI.

Challenges we ran into

Finding good data, dataset size, formats of inputs (image, audio, etc), missing consistent historical datasets, considering to develop a biodiversity index/attribution model for biodiversity

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Collaborating effectively as a team in a time bounded project. Exploring many possibilities and narrowing a very specific problem that we can start making a biodiversity impact today with Generative AI.

What we learned

Quantifying biodiversity is hard, AI has changed our possibilities with scattered data, nature needs immediate action, perfect is enemy of good, we should act responsibly with solutions, this is a very fun space to be at!

What's next for cacique

Both Jackson and Camila are excited to continue working on it. What excites us the most is the potential climate and business impact. The challenges we want to keep working on are getting to better recommendations with more data (including 1st party), more use cases (as procurement/supply chain, government/urban living, etc), and more ML depth to approach challenges as converting audio inputs into a computer vision problem, or converting image inputs into a text problem, etc. We see a bright and biodiverse future for cacique!
