Inspiration
We were inspired to make something related to the theme, and thought a calendar schedule would do the trick as it relates to the theme of productivity and organization. This was also out first hackathon, so we decided to go with something fairly simple.
What it does
It displays the month, year, and days just like a calendar. We have some input, but didn't have time to finish it, and the input disappears when you load the next month.
How we built it
We built it using web design elements like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We also used GitHub pages to host our server for free, and used the free domain from domain.com to set a domain for it.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was probably figuring out how to set up the web hosting because we didn't realize GitHub could do that until recently. We also had to figure out how to use GitHub to push code, and pull it. On top of that, we didn't know how the domain worked as well, but I think we managed figure it out in the end. Finally, some of the coding near the end was a little confusing as this is the first time we used JavaScript in a project. We also didn't merge our code near the end, and had to debug for a long time, and ran out of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we managed all the technical stuff, and that we at least got the calendar to function as a calendar displaying the right days with the right months, and years.
What we learned
We learned how to do most of the technical stuff, and how to apply the web development languages better.
What's next for Calendar Planner
We plan to finish making the project, and styling it to make it look better, and make people want to use the program.
