Inspiration

We were inspired by dating apps and the shortcomings that they had with fostering healthy social interactions. One major goal was to make the app accessible to people with social anxiety.

What it does

Campr is a friend/date making app that has you meet new people in group settings, as opposed to the one on one format that our competitors use. Campr’s system works by grouping users up into online chats known as “campsites”, with these groupings being generated based on mutual interests between users. Inside of campsites, users will remain anonymous towards each other unless they mutually like each other’s profiles, if this occurs then anonymity will be lifted and the two users can freely DM each other. Overall, the end goal of Campr is to prioritize personality above other external factors, such as appearance, when allowing people to meet others!

How we built it

We utilized PHP, HTML, CSS, and SQL.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the chat, as it required ajax which we are not familiar with.

The implementation of the chat, the conceptual idea of our product, and the front end design.

What we learned

We learned about AJAX, a little more about SQL, and some HTML

What's next for Campr
