Inspiration
After a long journey of creative thinking, we thought of all the joy we get from online games. We were inspired by one of our favorite online games, GeoGeussr, to create a version for the YCP community.
What it does
CampusGeo, or YCPGeo, is a website that allows users to host, spectate, and play a game that involves looking through random 360 photographs to guess where on York College campus it is. Lobbies can hold up to 150 individuals each round is timed. Points are generated based on proximity to the correct destination and a scoreboard is generated to determine the winners.
How we built it
We took 360-degree photographs using the Insta360X3 and uploaded them to a software built to run the game.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a lot of challenges, most of which occurred within front-end development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the idea of the project and how the photographs turned out. The homepage also turned out really nice.
What we learned
We learned how to use an Insta360X3 and that it is important to plan out everything in detail before jumping into a project to prevent future issues.
What's next for Campus Geo
We want to develop this project more fully to allow YCP students to play and learn their campus. It is possible to be expanded over onto other college campuses.
