Inspiration
College students are constantly buying and selling textbooks, furniture, and supplies — but there's no dedicated, trusted place to do it on campus. We built CampusMarket to give students a safe, easy marketplace made just for them.
What it does
CampusMarket is a student-to-student marketplace app where users can list items for sale, browse listings, and filter by category to find exactly what they need — all within their campus community. It includes secure user authentication so only real students can buy and sell.
How we built it
We built CampusMarket using FlutterFlow for the frontend UI and, FlutterFlow dart and Firebase as our backend, handling authentication, and interaction.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was time. Scoping the app, designing the UI, and connecting all the Firebase backend logic in a hackathon timeframe required us to prioritize ruthlessly and move fast sacrificing core functionality.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we shipped a partially functional marketplace app with real authentication and working listings in such a short time. Seeing the app come together from idea to working product is something we're really proud of.
What we learned
We learned how powerful FlutterFlow + Firebase can be as a rapid development stack. We also learned the importance of planning your data structure early — it saves a lot of time down the line.
What's next for CampusMarket
Next, we want to add in-app messaging so buyers and sellers can communicate directly, push notifications for new listings, and university email verification to keep the community trusted and safe, and dynamic logic for listings.
