Inspiration
In an era of generative AI, seeing is no longer believing. As deepfakes become indistinguishable from reality, trust in media is collapsing. We built CapTrue to fix this at the source by creating a "hardware-root-of-trust" that proves video was captured by a physical lens, not an AI lab.
What it does
CapTrue is a security layer that authenticates media at the moment of creation:
- Hardware Level: Uses a specialized module to sign footage with a unique "sensor fingerprint" (PRNU).
- Verification: Generates a cryptographic "Digital Birth Certificate" for every frame.
- Result: Allows platforms to instantly verify if video is "Physical Truth" or an AI-generated injection.
How we built it
- Hardware: Integrated with camera sensors to capture raw physical noise patterns and metadata.
- Backend: Designed a verification engine using Python to check for cryptographic tampering.
- Interface: Created a dashboard for "Verified Reality Explorers" to manage authentic content.
- API: Designed a SaaS integration for platforms like Uber, Amazon, and news networks.
Challenges we ran into
- Latency: Achieving real-time cryptographic signing of high-resolution video without frame drops.
- Compatibility: Designing a module adaptive enough to work across diverse legacy CCTV and professional camera architectures.
- Hardening: Securing the communication channel between the sensor and the encryption chip against sophisticated injection attacks.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Physical Origin Proof: Successfully identifying a video's specific hardware origin even after metadata is stripped.
- Market Fit: Validating a clear path across a $100B+ global camera hardware market.
- UX Simplicity: Turning complex digital forensics into a simple "Trust-Seal" for reality.
What we learned
- Provenance over Detection: Finding fakes is a losing game; the future of security lies in certifying originals at the source.
- Scale of Fraud: Discovered the massive demand for hardware-level truth in the insurance and gig-economy sectors to fight a $170B+ fraud crisis.
What's next for CapTrue
- Phase 1: Embed hardware modules into professional broadcasting and security cameras.
- Phase 2: Launch the SaaS API for social media and delivery platforms to stop AI-driven refund and identity scams.
- Phase 3: Develop the "CapTrue Native" camera line—the first hardware dedicated entirely to the Truth Economy.
