Inspiration

We wanted to modernize the vehicle experience for users and allow benefits for going green. We wanted to provide an integrated service that does what Insurance, and Car apps do. One of our biggest features are the safe driving practices information where we are able to give the user feedback on their driving skills.

What does it do?

This application allows a user to create an account either using their email and password or through registering their VIN. From here, the user can view health stats of their vehicle, specifically EVs in this case, from charging status to next maintenance to miles left in the tank. The user can view their weekly driving statistics as well which factors into their safety score. This safety score is then implemented later towards the business case of the project which works towards incentivizing safe driving by decreasing premiums. We locate nearby charging stations through an integrated Google Maps service, that also allows user to directly access the google maps app if they want to find other buildings near the charging stations. Lastly, this application works on both Android and IOS.

How we built it?

For our front end we utilized Flutter Dart and out backend is Firebase. We also used various libraries to create a more seamless UI and integrated GoogleMaps as well to provide geolocation features.

Challenges we ran into:

We ran into many issues in trying to integrate firebase and flutter together. Additionally, learning Flutter and Dart was a big learning curve since the documentation was a bit difficult to parse through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are very proud of the UI of the application and tried to implement modern design and appeal. We are also proud of the complete product we were able to put together given the time constraints and challenges we were faced with. Lastly, the most difficult accomplishment was being able to integrate the front end and back end together successfully.

What we learned:

We learned a new tech stack for mobile development as well as understanding the process from beginning to end. Additionally, we were able to implement creative problem solving to trouble shoot from many of the issues we faced.
