Inspiration
Credit card companies make cashback sound easy. But once people have more than one card, it becomes impossible to remember which one is best in the moment you’re actually paying. We’ve all had the thought: “Which card should I use right now so I don’t waste money?” That everyday frustration is what inspired CardRec. We wanted something simple that tells you the smartest card to swipe, instantly.
What it does
CardRec helps you maximize cashback with zero effort. You tell the app what you're about to buy, and it tells you which card in your wallet gives you the highest cashback for that purchase.

Challenges we ran into
Credit card cashback rules are intentionally complicated and standardizing them was harder than it looks. We’re a beginner team, so connecting backend logic to a working app in a short time was a big technical challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
we built a demo!!! We defined the core recommendation logic: for a purchase type, pick the best card.
