Inspiration
We all have an idea of what our ideal career path is and what we want to be doing to progress. However in today's busy world it's hard to keep track. We don't want to do hour by hour timesheets, but equally we want to know what we have worked on to aid discussions with manager. Show them you've spent 30% of your time on support rather than product management. Prove that, as a Software Engineer, you spend under 50% of your time coding.
What it does
A confluence macro to visualise the time spent over which ever timeframe you choose. The user can enter the data onto a table on a confluence page, the macro shows the graph and the user has a great visualisation of their work.
How we built it
All built as a Custom UI within Forge.
Challenges we ran into
Limitations of the UI within the Macro config screen. The original plan was to allow some form of data entry via the config screen of the macro, but UI and space limitations ruled this out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Reading the time data from a table within the Confluence page.
What we learned
What is achievable within confluence and forge.
What's next for Career Path Map
Iterate the product so it can integrate with other sources of time data. For example any timesheet solutions, or even google sheets if a user prefers to track time there
