Inspiration
We were inspired by the story of Nathan's mother, who worked at a hospice care facility and oversaw all the patients. She kept notes for each patient using only pen and paper, which is inefficient and unreliable.
What it does
It has the capability to add patients and caretakers into a database, which can be accessed via the webapp's dashboard. After clicking on one of the patients, it displays their information. It also integrates an AI Chatbot.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JS for the front end, Flask as the framework, and SQLAlchemy and Python as the backend.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled using Figma to translate our designs from concept to a real webpage. WE also had a hard time connecting the front-end and the back-end in our stack.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we build a fully-functioning full-stack application in the time that we had, as well as integrating new AI technology into it.
What we learned
We learned a lot about full-stack development since it was our first time attempting something like this, as well as a lot about the particular packages that we used (namely Flask and SQLAlchemy). And Figma, that too.
What's next for CareHaven
We wanted to add additional functionality to the dashboard, improve the UI/UX, and incorporate a more robust caretaker login portal.
