Inspiration

During the initial kickoff, we were inspired by hearing from both the patient and clinician perspectives. As people who navigate through the healthcare system ourselves, we decided to focus on improving the patient pathway as it is what resonates with us most. In addition, as frequent users of personal health data collecting apps, such as Apple Health, we found ourselves seeking a solution to easily share this data with a doctor to better articulate our health concerns.

What it does

CareMutual connects with current health tracking applications including Apple Health to integrate health reports and allow patients to control and communicate their health data with health providers.

How we built it

This project was ideated through Figma.

Challenges we ran into

At first, we had trouble understanding the data architecture of Apple HealthKit.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are most proud of designing a user-centric solution to an unaddressed user need that we have personally experienced.

What we learned

Through this experience, we learned about the interoperability of FHIR and how it can be used to facilitate health data sharing.

What's next for CareMutual

Our next steps would be to conduct further user research on the validity of our concept and evaluate key performance indicators such as ease of data integration, user sign-up, and transfer of health reports.
