About the Project
It is difficult to allocate resources efficiently during crisis situations. Its hard for an organization to send the correct amount of resources to each zip code location. We took on this issue and sought to solve it. We created a website that can allow users to enter in their zip code and the amount of items that they need in a broad range of categories and then the government or FEMA in this case can see all the amounts of resources and supplies needed by different zip codes to allocate the resources efficiently!
Inspiration
We were all hit pretty hard during the winter storm and quickly ran out of some basic necessities. We made due but some were even more worse off than us not being able to replenish supplies at all. We sought to try and make an improvement to the current system to more efficiently allocate resources to those who need it.
What we learned and how we built it.
We all being fairly new to full stack development, learned a lot about how the stack works and used HTML, CSS, JS, Python and MongoDB with Fast API. Most of these technologies were pretty foreign to us and we are glad we had such a good chance to learn.
Challenges
The Challenges we faced were mainly due to our lack of knowledge and caused us to spend more time debugging than with something we are more familiar with. One of our biggest challenges was the connection between the front end and the back end with get and pull requests.
