Inspiration

Seeing how young people struggle to manage their finances effectively, it can be overwhelming and lead to poor decisions. We got inspired by cat collecting mobile games. We wanted to create a product users will develop good finance habits but also make the experience interactive and fun. By adding game elements, we incentivize the user to stick to their goals to reward them for creating smart habits but also consider saving and sticking to a budget enjoyable activities.

What it does

An application that analyzes users' expenses and transactions to create an effective budget and savings plan to help them manage their finances more efficiently. If the user completes the goals, they get points to be able to purchase cats and cat accessories through a randomized character system.

How we built it

We designed our website with React.js and Flask for the backend. We used AWS and Amazon Bedrock Mistral to create the AI and machine learning model. We also used Capital One API to host the user's savings and transactions.

Challenges we ran into

We wanted to implement many features but due to the limited amount of time, we had to cut down ideas that we wanted to create. We also had different approaches for the designs, so it was difficult to narrow down the particular designs we wanted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to work hard on a product we love, and we got to learn something new about creating a full-stack application.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate with a team and distribute the work. We also learned new frameworks and technologies.

What's next for Cat Finances

We want to deploy our application on mobile app stores. We would like to create more features that will increase healthy finance habits.
