Inspiration
We were inspired by how people were able to teach hard subjects by simplifying the concepts. We wanted to do the same for space. Additionally, people often don't know about any astronomical events occurring soon in their area, often missing out on these beautiful sights. We wanted to change that as well.
What it does
Our website makes learning about space and upcoming astronomical events easy. It puts everything in one place, and let's you add an upcoming event to your calendar with just a click of a button.
How we built it
We built our website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and Flask.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we ran into was getting used to using various languages and websites that were unfamiliar to us. This project was our members' first time developing a website, as well as using github. It was also difficult to combine front-end and back-end. We had a clear vision, but we weren't sure how to implement it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the design of our website. It's clean and cute! We're also proud that we were able to make the website look close to the mockups despite our inexperience.
What we learned
We learned how to use github and how to code in HTML and CSS.
What's next for Celeste
We want to refine our website by successfully implementing the events section, including more celestial objects to our uncover section, and adding small animations. We can also expand the website to include opportunities related to space for those who are interested in pursuing a career in that field.
