Inspiration

Since the pandemic, many people have been confined to their homes for months, without the ability to see family and friends in person. That is why we have created Charades.me, allowing people to play charades without putting their loved ones in danger.

What it does

This allows users to play charades in their browser, provided that they have a webcam.

How we built it

We used react.js to build the frontend, and node.js as well as express to build the backend. For video functionality we used the Twilio API.

Challenges we ran into

We had many issues with the networking aspect of this project, as well as having the client and server connect to each other.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to implement this project in javascript since none of us have much experience in the language.

What we learned

We learned how facilitate realtime communication using sockets.

What's next for Charades.Me

We have plans to implement many other features such as a scoring system as well as mute buttons for players, and more sleek UI.
