Inspiration

The electric vehicle (EV) revolution is taking the world by storm, and as EV owners ourselves, we realized the need for a seamless travel experience that combines the convenience of hotel bookings with the availability of charging stations. We wanted to create a solution that would not only make road trips and vacations more enjoyable for EV users but also promote eco-friendly travel choices. Thus, ChargeHotels was born.

What it does

ChargeHotels is a comprehensive platform that allows users to search for and book hotels with on-site EV charging stations. With an intuitive interface, personalized recommendations, and real-time data on charging station availability, our app simplifies trip planning and provides a tailored experience for EV owners.

How we built it

We began by researching and compiling a database of hotels that offer charging stations, using open data sources and APIs from popular booking platforms. We then designed and developed a mobile application using React for cross-platform compatibility. We also used Google Maps API to provide hotel locations and utilized GPT-3 model for traveling suggestions.

Challenges we ran into

One of the primary challenges we faced was ensuring data accuracy and comprehensiveness, as the availability of charging stations at hotels is an ever-evolving landscape. We addressed this by implementing crowd-sourced data and incorporating machine learning techniques for anomaly detection to maintain data quality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have built a user-friendly platform that addresses a genuine need for EV owners. The positive feedback from users and the growing number of bookings made through ChargeHotels validate our efforts. We're also proud of the seamless integration of machine learning techniques, which have significantly enhanced the user experience and personalization.

What we learned

Through developing ChargeHotels, we've gained invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the EV and hospitality industries. We've also honed our skills in web app development, data management, and machine learning algorithm implementation.

What's next for ChargeHotels

As we continue to grow and improve ChargeHotels, our future plans include expanding our database to cover more regions and countries, incorporating real-time traffic data for better route planning, and implementing additional ML-driven features such as energy consumption prediction and automatic travel itinerary generation. We also plan to collaborate with EV manufacturers and charging network providers to further enhance the convenience and accessibility of our platform for EV owners worldwide.
