Inspiration

During lockdown when the traffic stopped, we started hearing a beautiful new sound emerging. Birdsong was suddenly part of the sound of our everyday lives again. Everywhere in the city came alive!

What it does

Chirrup is a farm biodiversity management system using simple sound recording technology backed by sophisticated machine learning & agro-ecological research.

Coming from arts, design, business and sustainability backgrounds, our project team was formed during the hackathon.

How we built it

We wanted to put our skills together to make birdsong part of the music of everyday life for years to come. Chirrup.ai drew on Conrad’s sustainable business work, modelled using Ciccy’s design skills, beautifully presented by Xin, compiled on film by Vivek, and with impeccable online research by Vidu.

Challenges we ran into

Beyond getting our heads around the industry and market, the challenges were mostly technical – dodgy wifi, a crashed laptop and difficulties with file transfer.
