Inspiration

Crocheting and knitting can already be challenging. That's why text patterns should be easy to understand for all users. That's how we came up with Cilvi!

What it does

Crafters who have trouble reading traditional fiber art patterns (limited vision, reading disabilities) can use the application for patterns to make for an accessible pattern reading experience. The website is easy to navigate for those with screen readers, and allows them to download text files of what the application generated. Pattern designers can also utilize the application, uploading pre-existing patterns or using our simple interface to make creating an alternate accessible pattern that much easier!

How we built it

Using django as a framework, we made a website with the main application's language being javascript.

Challenges we ran into

We initially ran into issues with run configurations since each of us are familiar with different configuration settings and servers. As a result, the website's front-end design appeared different on our respective screens. This was resolved once we worked on the same server whilst opening the website in different web browsers to affirm the site's style maintained consistency

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a full-fledged website that has front end and back end development, and working as a team!

What we learned

We learned how much time and effort is required to construct a website from scratch.

What's next for Cilvi

-More input types -Better audio support -better pdf formatting -an even more accessible website for those with screen readers
