  Race Facts!

Inspiration

Formula 1 is a highly competitive and constantly evolving sport with a dedicated following of fans. Due to it's growing popularity and my desire to get my friends to support the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team 🏆, I created this web app. My hope is that any new comers can get a quick overview of the past season so they can dive into the new season with added context.

What it does

It shows the race locations on a 3D globe and gives quick race facts about each location. The race facts include:

• Team Name
• Starting Position
• Finishing Position
• Fastest time for each driver

How we built it

I used React, Tailwind and DaisyUI to build the frontend. I ran analytics on this dataset to get details about the winners.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was figuring out how to structure the data as well as how to visualize it. What helped was to set a goal in terms of what I want the user to understand then from there it became easier to determine what to emphasize.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm super proud of taking this project from an idea to a complete project! Even though I say this every time, it's still always such an amazing feeling.

What we learned

I learned how to work with the react-globe-gl package and use it to display interactive geographic data.

What's next for Circuit Chronicles

I want to add more seasons along with additional information about the races.
