Inspiration

We wanted to create a Discord bot to help people from different language backgrounds communicate on a Discord server.

What it does

This bot translates messages between languages on a Discord server.

How we built it

We built it using the py-cord Discord API and the Google Translate Ajax API in python.

Challenges we ran into

The python Discord API was outdated and did not support Discord threads, a vital part of our project to ensure that our translated conversations can be as seamless as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We finished this project much earlier than we expected and are able to get a good night's sleep.

What we learned

We learned how to make a Discord bot in python.

What's next for Citranslate

We want to add in the capability to translate using flag emojis of the country. We also want to make the bot more customizable.
