Inspiration

Recent events regarding the construction of a new hazardous lithium mine near our city, really made us think about environmental care and healthy living, so we wanted to create a way for people to inform themselves about the environments they live in or they plan to live in as well.

What it does

CityWizard uses a modern AI solution to calculate and find the best place for people to live in and provide information about the user's environment based on numerous factors pulled from multiple datasets.

How we built it

We used various viable algorithms. For AI, we used Ridge Machine Learning Algorithm. By utilizing Wikipedia's API, we pulled thousands of articles about cities and countries from around the world and summarized them by using our custom-built TF-IDF algorithm. Our sleek design and lightning-fast server responses were achieved by using one of the world's current best frameworks: Django and React.

Challenges we ran into

There was a lot of trial and error regarding the training of the AI model because we were struggling to find the data that matched what we wanted to accomplish. In the end, we pulled through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we have achieved what we set out to do, and more. In just under 36 hours, we were able to create a product that works worldwide and solves an issue that a lot of people face.

What we learned

We learned a lot about machine learning, which we expected, but we also learned a lot about data science, which we did not expect we would.

What's next for CityWizard

CityWizard was built with upgradability and progress in mind, and we are looking forward to finding more data so we can enhance our future predictions. We hope that they will help our future users to enjoy our platform even more!
