Inspiration
We wanted to make it easier for people to identify and vote on infrastructure issues around them in a fair and democratic manner.
What it does
We have crowdsourced one's civic duty to their surroundings. Using a reputation and issue ranking system we rank order the most important issues to people's surroundings. This information can eventually be loaded to and from Ethereum's Blockchain database.
How we built it
Our mobile app is an Android application built in Java. Our backend was built using express, mongodb, and node. Our frontend was built with react and vanilla.js.
Challenges we ran into
Writing data to Tierion's Hash API, working with 360 imagery.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our Android app, backend, and frontend.
What we learned
It is vital to get good at the 20% of the skills that help build 80% of your to account for unexpected difficulties during a hackathon.
What's next for CivicMaps
Real-time integration with Tierion instead of batch updates.
