Clayhack Speedrun

You know that rush you get when you start your first-ever Hackathon? This is a runner game that channels that feeling of entering a whole new world. Better yet: it is also our first Hackathon project!

Inspiration

None of us have ever made a game before, and so we thought this was the perfect chance to give it a shot. Who doesn't love the Google Dino game? But, what if we could give it our own spooky (and cute) little touch? Well, that's exactly what we did.

What it does

In this runner game, you are a little spirit who must jump to dodge other angry ghosties and stay alive as long as you can. You can also navigate over to the About Us page to learn more about the creators.

How we built it

We built the website using HTML and CSS, and then we added interactivity and functionality to our game with a combination of CSS and Javascript. All of our incredible artwork was made by our amazingly talented members Jolin and Jackie (the Js in JK^2).

Challenges we ran into

Using GitHub version control software for the first time can be complicated. Thankfully the ClayHack mentors were able to help us through most of our issues. Additionally, our group had almost no experience with adding Javascript to webpages. It took a lot of guess and check type work, but we managed to learn a lot and make something pretty cool!
