Inspiration
Enabling people to smartly analyze the terms and conditions of various paid and free online services to be more aware of the consequences and make smart choices.
What it does
It inputs the terms and conditions document and lets the user know whether it affects them with respect to privacy, opting out, arbitration and waiver policies, with the relevant line numbers in the document for quick reference.
How I built it
I used an open source project which was related to budgeting and modified it. I have included the LICENSE for open source.
Challenges I ran into
None of the team members knew JavaScript and had never done any chrome extensions , so developing it was challenging as we had to figure out everything.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Successfully coding a working hack without any prior knowledge of the technicalities.
What I learned
javascript and chrome extensions, team building, working overnight :P
What's next for Clear_Terms
Currently it runs a basic algorithm using searches, we can improve the algorithm to do more intelligent searching by involving pattern recognitions and machine learning.
