Inspiration
CLH was created after seeing the many homeless people in our community who were in need. While many did not have home, they did have smartphones. After researching, we discovered that almost 62 percent of homeless people have cellphones. We wanted to create a tool that gave these people a sense of safety and a feeling of home.
What it does
This app and web service provides users with information regarding local shelters, transportation, and food pantries. In addition, users have access to local job postings and tips for getting the job. For personalization, users have the option to add personal information that could help emergency responders. The service also has contact information for numerous emergency hotlines.
How we built it
We created the website using HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we faced was making our site and app flow in a way that was easy for the user to navigate with ease.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our teamwork, planning, and completing an amazing project that we are very passionate about and believe will help many people in need.
What we learned
We learned how to make a website from scratch and also how to better use GitHub.
What's next for CLH
Next, CLH plans to expand its services and become more business oriented by gaining partnerships with different comapanies and more communities in need.
