Inspiration
Our main inspiration is the United Nations SDG for gender equality. We were inspired by the fact the modern world still struggles with this issue, and we wanted to create a hack that both empowers and connects women of all different backgrounds.
What it does
Clover is a web application made for women to find mentors and mentees to connect with other professionals. Through this, women will learn from one another and form new connections through our app.
Clover will have a photo verification process to ensure that you truly say you are to maintain a safe place for the users.
How we built it
We built the prototype demo with Figma. The working prototype was made using HTML and CSS through collaboration on GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges were related to collaboration. We would run into many technical difficulties in GitHub during our hack as it kept crashing and such. However, we still managed to finish it and pushed through regardless.
Another challenge we ran into was learning new languages. What we wanted our hack to look like required a language that not all of us were familiar with. Thus some of us were hacking while learning on the go.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of our idea. We spent a long time thinking and planning, and it especially makes us proud that the idea targets a social issue that is still valid today.
Our biggest accomplishment is just the process of our hack. We spent a lot of time working together and learning new things. Clover is truly the fruit of our labour, and just the effort put in to make it is something worth being proud of.
What we learned
We learned the importance of communication. At times there could be some miscommunication due to the lack of understanding from virtual interaction. This experience will be important in planning and communication amongst team members in the future.
What's next for Clover
After reviewing the prototype, we will begin to draft a final product that will fix any possible flaws within the prototype. Clover has the potential of being an empowering and safe place for women of all different backgrounds. Once the final web app is made, we will begin plans to make a tablet and mobile app version.
