Inspiration

Most developers, especially beginners, face a common trap: they search for errors, copy-paste a solution from Stack Overflow or ChatGPT, and move on , without understanding what went wrong or how it was fixed. This shortcut-driven habit builds dependency, not skill.

We recognized this first-hand that real growth in coding comes from struggling, thinking, and breaking through confusion. We saw the need for a tool that doesn’t just answer, but challenges the developer to reason, reflect, and improve.

How we built it

We developed CodeWise using a modern tech stack combining a Chrome extension with a React dashboard, leveraging AI for interactive coding assistance. The UI embraces iOS 26 glassmorphic design for a sleek, intuitive experience.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating real-time code analysis with a seamless UI overlay was complex, especially ensuring smooth interaction without disrupting the coding platforms. Handling diverse code editors and maintaining performance under browser constraints also posed challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a visually stunning, fluid crystal ball assistant that guides users through logic, syntax, optimization, and error detection interactively. The extension intelligently adapts to user input, fostering learning without spoon-feeding solutions.

What we learned

Building a cross-platform extension with advanced UI required deep understanding of browser APIs and CSS glassmorphism. We also gained insights into designing AI-driven educational tools that balance guidance with user autonomy.

What's next for CodeWise - Think through code

We plan to enhance AI feedback with personalized learning paths, integrate more coding platforms, and refine the in-dashboard coding workspace for richer interactivity and offline support. Continuous UI polish and community-driven features are also on the roadmap.
