Inspiration
We have some seniors on our team applying to college and what they wanted is an easy guide to finding the college for them. After some deliberation, we decided to follow up on our idea to improve student lives by helping them chose colleges to apply to. We chose a method of approached and then didn't stop working!
What it does
It accepts a bunch of the user's info and based off our data base of colleges and determines good colleges for the user to apply to.
How we built it
In java using Dr.Java and Repl.it, we made a class, datatype and a main file to run it
Challenges we ran into
Having recently learned how to create class files, we had trouble manipulating our data in it and using the right syntax for it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting this gosh darn thing to run!
What we learned
We learned to be careful with our boolean comparisons, that the code looking pretty doesn't only help the reader, but the debugger, and that Dr.Java is better than we gave it credit for.
What's next for collegeFinder
We want to expand this to be more efficient in accepting more colleges, and have more parameters in the future.
