Inspiration

Renting is messy. It disperses and requires documents, information, and actions across a multitude of platforms. It can be unforgiving with rent deadlines and strict leasing contracts, while subjecting tenants with sudden rent increases. But most of all, it creates tension between tenants and between tenants and their landlords—especially between immigrants who are new to our country and our language.

What it does

Introducing Confiance—a consolidated rental experience designed to be accessible, no matter one's background or native language.

Features:

  • Integrated rent payment system: Pay with banking accounts or card with just a few taps, all in one app.
  • Voice-to-text translations & auto-translated messaging: Allow for smoother online & in-person conversations about your rent or maintenance needs with your landlord.
  • Submit maintenance requests: Can’t describe where a repair is needed? Pinpoint the exact location in your home.
  • Receive alerts on every rental update: Never miss a payment or rent increase.
  • Organize documents & info: Keep all of your leases in a safe space.
  • Resource Hub: Learn more about your rights as an American tenant, and the laws regarding leasing and renting.

How we built it

Designed & prototyped on Figma, built with NextJS for frontend, Convex for authentication & backend database, ElevenLabs & OpenAI to power translations.

Challenges we ran into

Building with only one developer on the team, and thinking within scope & feasibility constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a product inspired by and designed for real people and experiences we know all too well. From many user interviews and personal experiences, we've uncovered a problem in an area that often goes overlooked.

What we learned

How to prioritize impactful features that users need most, while building with a limited team.

What's next for Confiance

Design & build the landlord-facing experience.
