ConnectCorps

Inspiration

We heard the specific needs of the Servant Center and hoped to find the optimal solution to help veterans. We wanted to build an app that helped consolidate the various loads of information and synthesize it for veterans.

What it does

The app has automated processes to diagnose mental health conditions, provides maps to nearby temporary housing, and helps with finding career opportunities.

How we built it

We built the majority of the app on Swift and also used Python for machine learning.

Challenges we ran into

We spent a lot of time trying to make SwiftUI work and building a good front end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the chatbot that diagnoses mental health conditions and the UI of the app.

What we learned

We learned how to be more efficient and plan better as a team. Initially, we were unorganized but we learned the value of working together.

What's next for ConnectCorps

We hope to make AR a bit more stabler and expand our ML algorithms to handle housing. We also want to be more accessible and support full voice over functionality. We also want to build a social aspect to our app to encourage veterans to collaborate and work together for our goals. We also hope to increase chatbot complexity through AI as well.

I worked on building most of the iOS app. I integrated novel technologies like Augmented Reality, Accessibility, and Internationalization into the app. I also worked on the networking and processing layers within our app. I helped with the overall design and implementation of our ideas into the app.

Harish Yerra
Initially, I worked a lot on designing the UI for our app and worked with Swift after a few years. I took a SwiftUI tutorial and helped code the form for inputting user data. In addition, I helped create our JSON files and was responsible for our elevator pitch as the presenter of our project.

Sauren Gupta
I worked on researching and collecting data for veteran benefits and call lines. I also used SwiftUI to help with some of the app features and Keynote to help with our pitch.

Arjun Prabhakar
I worked on the user interface using Figma which involves designing and prototyping the user experience. I also worked on the mental illness diagnosis tool as well as the chatbot. I also worked on the companion desktop application that uses sentiment analysis to support the findings from the mental illness diagnosis survey on the app.

Ansh Nanda
I worked on creating a Machine Learning algorithm using Bayesian classifiers for sentiment analysis in Python through the Natural Language Toolkit Library. Also worked on the UI using Swift UI at first and helped with the overall design and implementation process of our ideas.
